About Par-Troy West Little League (PTWLL)

Par-Troy West Little League (“PTWLL”) is a non-profit IRS 501.C.3 organization, established in 1952. The league is run by a Board of Directors, all of whom are volunteers.

We receive no outside local, state or federal financial aid to operate our program. All funds are received through donations, fundraisers, sponsors, and registration fees. All funds are used to maintain our own fields and to pay for all services, insurances, utilities, equipment, and uniforms.

PTWLL is in full compliance with all Little League Rules and Regulations. We have an approved charter that is approved regularly for every season by Little League Headquarters. Our approved By-Laws, which are quite similar to approved By-Laws of the past and those of other Little League organizations, have been approved by Little League International Headquarters in Williamsport, PA.

Parking Guidelines for PTWLL Complex - Parking at the complex at Lake Parsippany Park can sometimes become crowded. Par-Troy West has been granted permission to use the lot and oversee the property connecting 4 Sylvan Way (T-Mobile) and the main complex. During the season, we recommend you utilize the T- Mobile Parking lot and walk through the paths provided to relieve congestion in the Lake Parsippany Park lot.

Directions to the PTWLL Baseball Complex

From Route 10 East: Take Route 202 exit (Boonton / Morristown) and turn LEFT at the top of the ramp onto Route 202 North. Continue 3/4 mile and turn RIGHT at the light onto Halsey (Gulf Station on corner). See directions below: Halsey Rd at Route 202.
From Route 10 West: See directions from Route 287
From Route 287: Northbound take Exit 39 keeping LEFT at the fork in the ramp for Route 10 West. Southbound take Exit 39B for Route 10 West. Cross Ridgedale Ave. and take the Dryden Way exit. At the "T" turn LEFT onto Sylvan Way. Turn RIGHT at the light onto Route 202. Turn RIGHT at the light onto Halsey (Gulf Station on corner). See directions below: Halsey Rd at Route 202.
From Route 80 East: Take Exit 42A towards Morris Plains / Parsippany. Merge onto Route 202 South for 1.5 miles. Turn LEFT at the light onto Halsey Road (Gulf Station on corner). See directions below: Halsey Rd at Route 202.
From Halsey Rd. at Route 202: Turn RIGHT onto Elmwood Road (Street signs for Lake Parsippany Park and Little League W). STRAIGHT on Elmwood becomes drive path into the field. JR/SR field on left, LL baseball and softball on right.

Application Deadline
All applications must be received by April 1 of the current year.
All requests submitted by the deadline will be reviewed, and selected applicant(s) will be notified of award before the end of the school year.
Eligibility Requirements
- High school senior attending Parsippany Hills High School; and
- Current Varsity Baseball or Softball player at Parsippany Hills High School.
Scholarship Amount
up to $1,000 each is available to be awarded for baseball and softball (one-time scholarship)

Challenger League Games

The Challenger League is a baseball league for disabled children, that was established in 1986, by Williamsport Little League.

The Morris County Challenger Little League was established in 1999. The dedicated volunteers create a positive environment for the children who are in need of this program. The majority of the participants are from Morris County, and a few from the neighboring counties. The ages of participation are: 5 years old to 21 years old. The 21-year-old must be attending a school in order to participate.

The Baseball schedule begins in the middle of April and ends at the end of June. The games are played at a different town every weekend.

Please check the PTWLL schedule for when we are hosting the Challenger League games! Typically games are played one Sunday afternoon in April or May.
- The first game starts at 2pm, where PTWLL "buddies" assist Challenger Players in their game.
- At 4pm, PTWLL faces the Challengers in a special game with special rules for PTWLL players. So far, the Challengers are undefeated!

PTWLL "buddies" can be players, siblings, parents or guardians of nearly all ages. PTWLL participants have found the games to be very rewarding and fun.

How are player ages determined?

Little League International specifies the age cutoffs for Baseball and Softball annually, and will publish it on their website along with an online calculator.

Softball ages are determined as of Dec. 31 of the year prior to the Spring season in which they will be playing. For example, in 2020, the age is as of Dec. 31, 2019.
Baseball ages are determined as of Aug. 31 of the year in which they are playing. For example, in 2020, the age is as of Aug. 31, 2020.

Children in our league are not placed in divisions based on grade level.

What programs does PTWLL offer?

Spring

Teams for players age 4-16
Note - All softball teams and Jr/Sr baseball teams will travel for games against other towns.

Summer

Teams by tryouts only for players age 8-12 (depending on coaches available per team)
Note - there is generally at most one team per level (9U, 10U, 11U, 12U) for each of baseball and softball. All teams will travel for games against other towns.

Fall

Teams for players age 7-12
Note - there is typically one team per level for each of baseball and softball. All teams will travel for games against other towns.

When do teams practice and how often per week?

For Spring, your child's team manager will provide you with information on practice dates, times, and locations. Fields for spring are typically available by late March, depending on the winter snowfall. Before the spring season opens in mid-April, teams typically practice one weeknight and once on the weekend based on a practice schedule set when teams are formed/ drafted. Once spring games begin, practice dates and times will vary by team and field availability.

Summer All-Star teams will be notified by their team manager and could practice as often as 7 days per week.

Fall Ball teams will be notified by their team manager.

When do games begin and how many per week?

Spring games generally begin in mid-April, although softball may start earlier. Teams typically play at least 2 games on weeknights and 1 game on the weekend, and the days and times can vary week to week. Game schedules are posted online before Opening Night in April. Softball schedules are subject to change and all times should be confirmed with your team manager and/or the VP of Softball.

Summer All-Star teams will be notified by their team manager and could have multiple games in a week and in a row.

Fall Ball teams will be notified by their team manager.

What equipment do I need to purchase and what does PTWLL provide?

PTWLL Provides Equipment:

Tee (for tee ball)
Catcher's Gear (for all other levels)
Bat (2 per team - non-wood, USA Baseball approved)
Helmet (2 per team)

PTWLL Provides Clothing:

Jersey/ Tee Shirt (per player - yours to keep)
Tee Ball/ Baseball Hat (per player - yours to keep)

Parents Provide Equipment (label everything):

Baseball or Softball Glove (required)
Catcher's gear (optional, only if your child is a catcher)
Bat (optional - must be non-wood, USA Baseball approved)
Softball facemask (optional - PTWLL does not provide any)
Helmet (optional)

Parents Provide Clothing:

Tee Ball/ Farm - sweatpants or baseball/softball pants, sneakers or non-metal cleats
Minors/ Majors/ Jrs - baseball/ softball pants, belts, socks, non-metal cleats
Boys - protective athletic cups
Water bottle

How can I fulfill my family work bond?

Each spring, all families are required to submit a separate check (not available to pay online) for the family work bond. This check will be returned to you or destroyed once one adult member of your family fulfills one of the following tasks:

an approved, official Team Manager, Coach or Assistant Coach (you will be notified by the PTWLL Player Agent if you are one)
work at least 3 hours at Field Cleanup (March or April, at either the baseball or softball complex - you must sign in and out to get credit)
work one, 3-hour shift in the refreshment stand at the baseball complex (this applies to baseball and softball)

Failure to fulfill one of the work bond tasks will result in a forfeit of the work bond and your check will be cashed in June.

Note - Families who have a player on a summer All-Star team will also be required to spend time in the refreshment stand at each home all-star game, as coordinated by your team manager. There is no work bond requirement for Fall Ball.

PTWLL ALL-STARS

About All Stars

PTWLL sponsors a variety of all-star teams during June-August. Managers and coaches are selected from the pool of approved managers and coaches from the Spring season. Players age 7 and above who played in the Farm level and above are eligible to try out for an all-star team. A significant time commitment (practices, games, travel, additional refreshment stand duty) is required. Practice and game schedules are provided to selected players and their families directly by the team manager.

Cost

All interested players must bring with them to tryouts a check for $75, dated June 15, payable to PTWLL
Checks will be destroyed for any player who is not selected to play on an all-star team.
Checks will be immediately cashed following acceptance onto an all-star team

Eligibility and Tryouts

Age 7 years old or older
Played in Farm, Minors, Majors or Juniors during the Spring season of the same year;
Willing and able to meet the requirements of the team (practices, games, travel, additional refreshment stand duty); and
Is selected to play on an all-star team following attendance at tryouts (dates and times announced in early June).
